SCR-17, MP-18, Lee-Enfield, Luger P08 plus Shamshir, Jambiya and Akinaka: every confirmed DayZ Badlands weapon, its status and where each fact came from.
DayZ Badlands Weapons: Every Confirmed Gun and Blade, Sourced
Quick answer: as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026), Bohemia Interactive has confirmed ten weapons for DayZ Badlands — four firearms and six melee pieces. The guns are the SCR-17 battle rifle, the MP-18 submachine gun, the Luger P08 pistol and the Lee-Enfield. The melee lineup is the Shamshir-styled scimitar, the Jambiya curved dagger, the Akinaka, the Police Baton, the Döner Knife and brass knuckles (including the engraved "Friendly" variant). Only the SCR-17, the Holo Sights and the brass knuckles are already playable: they shipped in the free 1.29 Road to Badlands update on July 15, 2026. Everything else waits for the DLC and update 1.30, both landing at launch on October 15, 2026.
- Four confirmed firearms, each traced to a Bohemia announcement — no datamined names here.
- Six confirmed melee weapons, five of them regional blades revealed in Dev Blog Week 70.
- Only calibre and magazine size are official; damage, fire rate and spawn tables are unpublished.

| MP-18 | Submachine gun | 9×19mm, 32-round drum with round-count indicator | Dev Blog Recap (1) | Announced, not yet playable |
| Luger P08 | Pistol | Detachable magazine, swaps with the MP-18 drum | Week 70, Recap (1) | Announced, not yet playable |

SCR-17 Battle Rifle
The SCR-17 is the most documented Badlands weapon, because Bohemia made it the headline item of the 1.29 Road to Badlands update. The official Experimental article calls it "one of the community's most requested firearms", chambered in .308 with a 20-round magazine and "highly modular": a default buttstock and a precision buttstock ship with it, positioned as a rival to the LAR. All western optics mount on it, plus the new non-magnifying Holo Sights. Two colour variants exist — default tan, and a black one reserved for Sakhal.

You do not have to wait for the DLC to handle it: the SCR-17 is already on every server running 1.29 or newer, so it is the one Badlands gun you can benchmark. It sits in the battle-rifle slot next to the LAR, which matters on the long Nasdara sightlines in our map regions guide.
MP-18 Submachine Gun and Luger P08
The MP-18 was showcased in Dev Blog Recap (1) as a bonus clip: "a submachine gun that fires 9×19mm rounds and takes a 32-round drum magazine." Two details matter more than the capacity. The drum carries an indicator that can approximately show how many bullets are left, which removes guesswork at reload time. It also has a companion piece, the Luger P08, with magazines that swap freely between them.
That shared magazine is the strategic hook: run an MP-18 and a Luger and you carry one caliber for two guns. Week 70 covers the Luger separately as a Great War sidearm brought to Takistan, noting its toggle-lock action and detachable magazine.

Lee-Enfield: The Ishapore Build
Week 79 reads like a museum placard. Bohemia's model is based on the Model No. 1 Mk. III* — the SMLE pattern most popular during the Great War — in an Ishapore configuration: lighter teak instead of walnut, the rear cross bolt collectors call the Ishapore screw, and a stamp reading "R.F.I." for Rifle Factory Ishapore.
Mechanically the blog is explicit: "The rifle feeds 10 rounds of 7.62×54mmR from a 10-round detachable magazine." Bohemia calls that a real-world modification (.303 British is rare; the barrel is set back and rechambered with a Mosin chamber-cutting reamer) and says sharing a cartridge with the Mosin "is better for gameplay". Expect it inside the Mosin's scavenger loop, not a new ammo family.

Confirmed Melee Weapons in DayZ Badlands
Dev Blog Week 70 was the melee reveal, and Bohemia framed the set as regional craft rather than generic loot, researched from the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula.
| Melee weapon | Type | What the official blog says | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shamshir-styled scimitar | One-handed sword | Middle-Eastern saber: "fearsome, damaging, and long-reaching" with a quick swing | Week 70 |
| Jambiya | Curved dagger | Higher condition value than regular knives, so it lasts longer before sharpening; stealth takedown showcased | Week 70 |
| Akinaka | Double-edged dagger | Scythian design, over two and a half millennia old; "an exceedingly rare artifact" | Week 70 |
| Police Baton | Blunt weapon | Urban, non-historic piece "for knocking out assailants" | Week 70 |
| Döner Knife | Utility blade | Urban knife, "ideal for slicing meats" | Week 70 |
| Brass Knuckles (+ "Friendly" variant) | Knuckle weapon | Shipped with 1.29; "Friendly" engraving made with AWE me and Man at Arms: Reforged | 1.29 stable |
Two design notes. The scimitar is the reach option — one-handed, quick, damaging — so it competes with spears rather than knives. The Jambiya is a better knife than a knife: raised condition value means it lasts longer before you need a sharpening tool. Bohemia also calls the historic blades "rare, historical loot spread thin across a large region", so expect the Akinaka to be scarce.

What You Can Hold Today vs. on October 15
| Item | Playable now (1.29 live build) | Arrives with Badlands + 1.30 |
|---|---|---|
| SCR-17 (tan; black is Sakhal-only) | Yes | — |
| Holo Sights, 2 SCR-17 buttstocks, SCR-17 magazine | Yes | — |
| Brass Knuckles + "Friendly" variant | Yes | — |
| MP-18, Luger P08, Lee-Enfield | No | Yes |
| Shamshir, Jambiya, Akinaka, Police Baton, Döner Knife | No | Yes |
The pattern follows how Bohemia has rolled out expansion assets before: weapon flavour ships early in a free base-game update, while terrain-locked content waits for the DLC.
Attachments, Optics and Ammo
Attachment facts stay limited to the SCR-17: two buttstocks (default and precision), a magazine, and all western optics plus the new non-magnifying Holo Sights, which also work on other western firearms. No suppressor, rail or muzzle attachment has been announced. On ammo, the only new supply question is the Lee-Enfield, rechambered to 7.62×54mmR to share the Mosin's cartridge; the MP-18 and Luger run 9×19mm, and .308 already exists in DayZ.
The surrounding kit — regional clothing, tanker helmets, military caps — arrived in the same 1.29 drop; see the clothing breakdown.
Where Guns Will Fit in Nasdara's Loot Economy
No Badlands spawn table exists yet, but two official statements narrow it down. The 1.29 stable update says guns and rifles still show up in their usual spots — hunting camps, military bases — with "more intent to their placement now": some firearms spawn exclusively around farms, and vests and helmets were made rarer.
For Nasdara, Dev Blog Week 73 describes bazaars with dedicated shops: generic shops hold generic loot, gun shops feature military loot, and extra loot spawns along the corridors to reward exploration. No weapon-specific rarity is published. Our military bases and bunkers loot guide and bazaar route guide separate the confirmed from the open.
What Is Not Confirmed Yet
Damage values, fire rates, recoil, melee swing speed, spawn coordinates and per-weapon drop rates are not published as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026), and every dev blog carries a "subject to change before release" disclaimer. Any table showing exact damage for the scimitar or the SCR-17 before October 15 is guessing, not reporting.
Also unconfirmed: whether the MP-18, Luger and regional blades spawn outside Nasdara, and whether they appear on Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal servers. This page updates once the 1.30 patch notes are public — our 1.30 coverage is where that lands first.
FAQ
How many weapons are in DayZ Badlands? Ten are confirmed as of the Badlands pre-launch: four firearms (SCR-17, MP-18, Luger P08, Lee-Enfield) and six melee weapons (Shamshir-styled scimitar, Jambiya, Akinaka, Police Baton, Döner Knife, brass knuckles). Bohemia has not promised that is the final count — the official wording is a "collection".
Is the Lee-Enfield new or returning? Week 79 never uses the word "returning" — it presents a new model based on the SMLE Mk. III*, rechambered to 7.62×54mmR so it shares the Mosin's ammunition instead of .303 British. Press and community coverage call it a comeback; the official blog only details the build.
Do the MP-18 and the Luger use the same magazines? Yes. Recap (1) calls them companion pieces and says "the magazines can be freely swapped between them", so one 9×19mm supply line feeds both.
Which Badlands weapons can I use right now? The SCR-17, the Holo Sights and the brass knuckles with the "Friendly" variant, all shipped in the free 1.29 update on July 15, 2026. The rest arrive on October 15, 2026.
Are shotguns, sniper rifles or bows confirmed for Badlands? No. Nothing in the official dev blogs, the 1.29 patch notes or the Steam store page announces a shotgun, a dedicated sniper rifle, a bow or a crossbow. The ten weapons above are the full official list as of October 10, 2026.
