Soviet-era military bases hold Nasdara's top loot, now guarded by territorial dogs. What is confirmed about DayZ Badlands military loot before launch.
DayZ Badlands Military Bases & Bunkers: Loot Guide (Nasdara)
Quick answer: Soviet-era military installations, oil infrastructure and underground facilities are the top-tier loot sites on Nasdara — that is what the official DayZ Badlands store page promises, and as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026) it is as specific as Bohemia has ever gotten. No base names, no coordinates, no bunker locations and no loot tables are published. What you can plan around: Nasdara is 267 km², Nasdara-style military convoy wrecks have spawned in the base game since Update 1.29 (stable July 15, 2026), and packs of Dobermans and German Shepherds will guard military zones as DayZ's first territorial animal when the DLC launches on October 15, 2026.
What Is Confirmed About Military Loot
Every row below is dated and tiered — the difference between an official sentence and a guess is the whole point of this page.
| Claim | What the source actually says | Source tier |
|---|---|---|
| Soviet bases hold the map's military loot | "crumbling Soviet-era military bases collide with modern oil drills and refinery infrastructure" | Official — Steam store page |
| Gun placement is deliberate now | Guns still appear at "hunting camps or military bases", but placement has "more intent"; some firearms spawn "exclusively around farms" | Official — Update 1.29, July 15, 2026 |
| Gear distribution shifted | Vests and helmets "made rarer"; NBC items now spawn outside of "Medical Centers, Fire Stations, and high-tier military areas" | Official — Update 1.29 |
| Convoy wrecks | "Nasdara Military Convoy on Chernarus and Livonia" in the 1.29 content list | Official — Update 1.29 |
| Guard dogs | Packs "act as guards for specific locations (primarily military zones)" and attack on entry | Official — Week 86, September 25, 2026 |
| Underground sites | "Underground facilities and infrastructure powered by the new terrain-hole system" | Official — October 2, 2026 |
| Base names, coordinates, loot tables | Nothing published | Unpublished pre-launch (October 2026) |
Official source: DayZ Badlands — Steam store page — "Abandoned historical sites, dense Middle Eastern-style cities, and crumbling Soviet-era military bases collide with modern oil drills and refinery infrastructure."
Nasdara's Site Types: What the Store Page Describes
The official description names four categories of high-value ground, all in one sentence and all at name level:
| Site type | Official wording | What it means for loot runs |
|---|---|---|
| Soviet-era military bases | "crumbling Soviet-era military bases" | The classic DayZ military tier, still unnamed |
| Oil infrastructure | "modern oil drills and refinery infrastructure" | A separate industrial loot identity — see Oil Fields & Refinery Loot Guide |
| Historical ruins | "Abandoned historical sites" | Ruins and relics, loot tier never stated |
| Underground facilities | Terrain-hole powered "underground facilities and infrastructure" | Bunkers exist as a system; no site has been shown |
Week 63's dev blog (April 15, 2026) explains the layers behind those ruins: proxy wars, a dictatorship, western coalition intervention, then PMCs and armed factions before the infection. Backstory lives on Nasdara Lore: Takistan, History & Factions; geography on Nasdara Map Overview.
The gap is simple: the store page lists what exists, not where. Base names, garrison sizes, loot tiers and coordinates are unpublished as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026), and the DayZ Creator Program (October 8 to the morning of October 15, 2026) runs under embargo — creator footage lands on release day.
The 1.29 Convoy Wrecks Are Already Spawning
This is the one confirmed military loot source you can walk up to before the DLC exists. Update 1.29 "Road to Badlands" went stable on all platforms on July 15, 2026, and its content list is explicit:
| 1.29 item | Relevance to military loot |
|---|---|
| Nasdara Military Convoy on Chernarus and Livonia | A named wreck set carrying Nasdara's identity into the base game |
| SCR-17 battle rifle, plus a black Sakhal variant | New military rifle in the live economy |
| 2 buttstocks, a magazine and holo sights | Attachments for the SCR-17 |
| Tanker helmets and military caps | Head-slot military cosmetics |
| Brass knuckles, plus a "Friendly" engraved variant | New melee addition from the same update |
| Desert camo for Combat Backpack and Plate Carrier Vest | The plate carrier is the vest players care about |
| Female infected soldier variant | Arrived alongside the convoys |
The economic half matters more than the item half. Bohemia moved its central-economy experiment live with 1.29, aiming to slow gameplay and put "more importance on how you loot areas early after you spawn." Vests and helmets became rarer, some firearms now belong to farms, and NBC gear escaped the medical-centre monopoly. Update 1.29 shipped without an announced wipe.

Guard Dogs: The Threat No Loot Guide Mentions
Dev Blog 8 (Week 86, September 25, 2026) is the only official source on this threat, and it changes how you approach every military compound.
- Dogs are DayZ's first territorial animal. Wolves are roaming predators; dogs are "tied to specific locations where they reside. A prime example would be military zones."
- The pack is the guard. "These packs of dogs will act as guards for specific locations (primarily military zones) and will attack you if you breach their territory."
- Two breeds: the Doberman and the German Shepherd, with multiple variations.
- They cannot be tamed or kept as companions — Bohemia answered that question directly.
- They are the infected's friends: traumatized by Day Zero, they stayed loyal to their previous owners, primarily in packs.
- Behaviour will deepen, with no ETA on anything beyond "straight up attacking you".
A dog pack guarding a military zone is a stationary, aggro-on-entry alarm system sitting on top of the loot you came for, and unlike wolves it will not wander off. Shooting it announces your position to every player within earshot. Behaviour notes are on Wildlife Threats: Dogs, Mouflons & Lizards.
Expect a perimeter, not a mob: packs guard specific locations, not every military tile, and pack size, detection range and damage are unpublished as of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026).

Bunkers and Underground Facilities: Half-Confirmed
Two official threads exist, and they are not the same feature.
- Radio and Morse code. The October 2 price announcement lists "Radio gameplay, including Morse code signals that lead to underground shelters" as an October 15 feature; Recap 2 (September 22, 2026) ties the same radio activity to underground shelters. Bohemia held radio gameplay back from the creator event so it ships with the release.
- The terrain-hole system. The same checklist lists "Underground facilities and infrastructure powered by the new terrain-hole system, which will also be available for other maps and to the modding community" — underground space is real and moddable, arriving at launch on October 15, 2026.
Neither thread names a bunker. Nasdara-specific contaminated zone locations are unpublished; WOBO reports gas attacks coming to Nasdara (media report, not an official confirmation), while the PO-X gas and NBC loop is the existing DayZ mechanic from Chernarus and Livonia — see Contaminated Zones & Toxic Areas and NBC Gear & Gas Masks.
Locking a site down is separate: the incoming code lock is map-agnostic rather than Nasdara-specific, and low.ms (media report) describes V9 battery power, self-unlock when the battery dies and escalating brute-force protection — details on Code Locks in DayZ.
As of the Badlands pre-launch (October 2026) there are no official coordinates, overlaid screenshots, entrance lists or loot tables for any Nasdara bunker. A marked-up bunker map published before October 15, 2026 is filling the gap with invention.
How to Prepare for the October 15 Loot Run
| Do this now | Why |
|---|---|
| Run convoy wrecks on Chernarus and Livonia | The only Nasdara-flavoured military loot playable today, live since July 15, 2026 |
| Relearn the 1.29 economy | Vests, helmets and NBC gear are rarer and displaced; farm spawns matter |
| Practise melee against groups | The Shamshir-style curved blade and Jambiya dagger are official Badlands additions |
| Stock a heat and water routine | Sunlight hits character stats on the hottest official map — see Heat & Heatstroke Survival Guide |
| Expect dog packs at compounds | Arrive quiet, avoid firing on sight, keep an exit that is not the gate you entered |
The wider first-day picture sits on DayZ Badlands Beginner Starter Guide and Cities, Bazaars & Loot Routes in Nasdara; the timeline is on DayZ Update 1.30 Patch Notes & Release Info.
